Texas Christian players spared jail

FORT WORTH, Texas, July 26 (UPI) -- Three football players at Texas Christian University arrested during a drug sting have received probation for marijuana possession, officials say.

The Tarrant County district attorney's office said David Yendrey, Tanner Wilson Brock and Tyler Horn, all 21, agreed to plead guilty to possession, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. The plea bargains were worked out in the past few weeks.

Charges are still pending against another player, Devin Johnson.

A spokeswoman for the district attorney said Yendrey, Brock and Horn all received periods of deferred adjudication probation and fines, a common procedure with first-time drug offenders. If they do not violate the law during their probationary periods, their records will be wiped clean.

The campus drug investigation led to the arrest of 17 students in February.
