FAYETTEVILLE, Ark., April 18 (UPI) -- A woman who was hired by the University of Arkansas football program while she was having an affair with Coach Bobby Petrino has agreed to resign.

School officials said Tuesday Jessica Dorrell will receive a $14,000 payment to settle her contract with the university, CNN reported. She has been on paid leave since the affair came to light and Petrino has been fired.

Dorrell, who played volleyball as a student at Arkansas, was hired as student athlete development coordinator for the football program on March 23 after more than 150 people applied for the position. Her affair with Petrino came to light after he was in a motorcycle crash April 1 in which she was a passenger.

"While Ms. Dorrell had a legitimate right to apply for and accept a position within the football program, the circumstances surrounding the former coach's decision to hire her compromised her ability to be effective in such a position," Jeff Long, Razorbacks' athletic director, said. "She and I believe she should have the opportunity to move on."
