CLINTON, S.C., Feb. 5 (UPI) -- A 21-year-old Presbyterian College linebacker died Sunday after being found unconscious in a campus fraternity house, authorities in South Carolina said.
Kyle Allen, a student-athlete at the Clinton, S.C., school, was pronounced dead at Laurens County Hospital, the county coroner's office said.
Officials indicated the circumstances surrounding Allen's death were being investigated.
Police said they received an emergency call about 5:30 a.m. from a fellow student of the St. Augustine, Fla., native.
"Our deepest sympathies and sincerest prayers are extended to Kyle Allen's family, teammates, and many friends," Presbyterian College Chief of Staff Bob Staton said. "Our campus community grieves this untimely and tragic loss as we remember Kyle and his many contributions to the PC family."
Allen completed in all 11 of Presbyterian's 2011 games after transferring from Georgia Southern.
