UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Penn State University asked instructors to give latitude to students seeking to pay their final respects to the late football Coach Joe Paterno.
The school said thousands of well-wishers turned up to viewings Tuesday and Wednesday for Paterno, who died Sunday at the age of 85 after he was ousted from his position in November amidst accusations of mishandling allegations of child sex abuse by a former assistant, CNN reported Wednesday.
A private funeral and burial service are planned for Wednesday, and Penn State said a public memorial service will be held Thursday. However, officials said tickets for the event were all distributed Tuesday morning.
