UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Former Penn State football Coach Joe Paterno will be buried Wednesday following a private family funeral service, his family said.
Paterno, who had lung cancer, died Sunday at age 85, months after the football program he had nurtured into a national powerhouse over 46 years was rocked by allegations that one of his former longtime top assistants is a child molester.
The Paterno family said there will be a public viewing from 1-11 p.m. Tuesday at the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center on Penn State's University Park campus, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported. A second public viewing is scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, followed by the private service.
A public memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Bryce Jordan Center.
