MCLEAN, Va., Jan. 10 (UPI) -- Alabama, which dominated Louisiana State in the Bowl Championship Series title game, was voted No. 1 in the final USA Today coaches' poll.
Coaches are expected to pick the BCS final winner No. 1 but Alabama's clear 21-0 win Monday night over LSU probably made the vote very easy. The acclaim placing the Crimson Tide on top of the rankings was unanimous. Monday's win avenged the only Alabama (12-1) loss this season, a 6-3 defeat in overtime to LSU.
LSU (13-1) is second in the voting, not far off from getting all 59 second-place votes. Oklahoma State (12-1) finishes No. 3 with Oregon (12-2) taking the fourth spot and Arkansas (11-2) comes in fifth. The only losses for Arkansas this year were road games at Alabama and LSU.
Boise State (12-1) is sixth followed by, in order, Stanford, South Carolina and Michigan, all of which finished 11-2. Michigan State (11-3) takes the No. 8 spot.
Kansas State (10-3) and Virginia Tech (11-3) each drop six spots from the final regular-season poll to 16th and 17th, respectively. West Virginia (10-3) is 18th while Southern Mississippi (12-2) is No. 19 and Georgia (10-4) is 20th.
Cincinnati (10-3) is 21st with No. 22 Clemson (10-4), 23rd-ranked Florida State (9-4), No. 24 Nebraska (9-4) and No. 25 Brigham Young (10-3) completing the Top 25.
