HONOLULU, Dec. 25 (UPI) -- Kelvin Bolden scored on a 4-yard pass from Austin Davis in the fourth quarter Saturday, sending Southern Mississippi past Nevada 24-17 in the Hawaii Bowl.
Davis went 18-of-41 for 165 and two scores in helping the Golden Eagles (12-2) to the first 12-win season in school history and a victory in Larry Fedora's final game as the team's coach. Fedora is moving on to North Carolina.
Lampford Mark piled up 183 yards and two TDs for the Wolf Pack (7-6).
Bolden's decisive catch with 5:48 remaining was set up by a 43-yard pass from Davis to Dominique Sullivan and a 19-yard strike to William Spight.
Nevada tried to regain the lead but on fourth-and-1 at midfield with nearly 4 minutes left, the Golden Eagles stopped Mark for no gain.
Southern Miss then produced three more first downs to run out the clock.
