COL FB: Stanford 28, Notre Dame 14

STANFORD, Calif., Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Andrew Luck burnished his Heisman Trophy credentials with four touchdown passes Saturday and fifth-ranked Stanford bested No. 24 Notre Dame 28-14.

Luck completed 20-of-30 passes for 233 yards and finished the regular season with 80 career TD passes, three better than John Elway's school record, as the Cardinal (11-1) all but wrapped up a BCS bowl game appearance.

Tommy Rees started behind center for the Fighting Irish (8-4), but was pulled after an ineffective first half. Andrew Hendrix relieved and passed for 192 yards with a touchdown and an interception on 11-of-24 efficiency.

Notre Dame fell short in its bid for its first five-game winning streak since 2006.
