ATLANTA, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Quarterback Tevin Washington rambled for 176 yards and a touchdown Saturday, helping carry Georgia Tech to a 31-17 upset of No. 6 Clemson.
Washington, who ended with 236 all-purpose yards, also completed 4-of-9 pass attempts for 60 yards and an interception as Georgia Tech (7-2, 4-2 ACC) handed Clemson its first loss this season.
Orwin Smith contributed two touchdowns on the ground, carrying the ball seven times for 37 yards, and David Sims added 68 yards and a score on 15 carries for the Yellow Jackets.
The Tigers (8-1, 5-1) lost despite a 23-for-40 passing performance from Tajh Boyd, who piled up 295 yards and a touchdown but was intercepted twice.
Sammy Watkins made nine grabs for 153 yards and a TD for the losers.
