COL FB: Virginia Tech 38, Wake Forest 17

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Logan Thomas scored two of Virginia Tech's three second-period touchdowns Saturday, rallying the No. 17 Hokies past Wake Forest 38-17.

The Demon Deacons took a 10-point lead after one period, but Virginia Tech roared back with Thomas accounting for four touchdowns from the quarterback position.

He ran 1 and 3 yards for scores in the second period and threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Jarrett Boykin en route to a 21-10 halftime lead.

Thomas also hit Marcus Davis with a 30-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. Thomas completed 17-of-32 passes for 280 yards without an interception. He also ran 30 yards on 11 carries.

Virginia Tech improved to 6-1 for the year and to 2-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Tanner Price hit 19-of-33 passes for 254 yards in leading Wake Forest (4-2, 3-1).
