COL FB: Georgia Tech 21, Maryland 16

ATLANTA, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Tevin Washington threw for 114 yards and ran for another 120 plus two touchdowns in No. 13 Georgia Tech's 21-16 victory over Maryland Saturday.

The Yellow Jackets (6-0, 3-0 ACC) defense limited Maryland (2-3, 1-1) to a field goal for the first three quarters and held on as Maryland scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to make it interesting.

David Sims ran for 87 yards for Tech. Stephen Hill had two catches for 50 yards.

Georgia Tech led 14-3 at halftime and made it 21-3 in the third quarter on Washington's 3-yard TD plunge.

The Terrapins rallied in the final stanza behind backup quarterback C.J. Brown. Brown engineered two scoring drives, one of which was his 77-yard TD run with 12:01 to play that cut Tech's lead to 21-10.
