COL FB: Baylor 56, Rice 31

Sept. 24, 2011 at 11:06 PM   |   Comments

WACO, Texas, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Robert Griffin III filled the end zone with five touchdown passes and ran for another score Saturday, carrying No. 19 Baylor to a 56-31 victory over Rice.

Griffin amassed 338 yards while completing 29-of-33 pass attempts.

With Saturday's performance, the junior signal-caller has completed 70 of his 82 passes so far this season, throwing more touchdown passes (13) than incompletions.

His favorite target Saturday was Kendall Wright, who compiled 108 yards and one touchdown on 11 receptions as Baylor logged its 3-0 start since 2005.

The Owls (1-2) got three TD passes from Taylor McHargue but it wasn't enough to prevent their 23rd loss in 24 games against BCS conference teams.
