Gophers' Kill remains hospitalized

MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- First-year Minnesota Gophers football Coach Jerry Kill remained hospitalized Sunday, the day after suffering a seizure during a game.

Kill, who was in stable condition, "feels like he got hit in the head," his brother Frank told the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

"Everything is fine. He's sore and tired, but that always goes away after a couple of days."

Kill, who has a history of seizures and other health problems, was stricken in the final moments in Minnesota's 28-21 home loss to New Mexico State.

Frank Kill, who had not talked with his brother but had been in contact with family members, said his brother is "real embarrassed."

"He doesn't want that to happen in front of fans, in front of kids," he said. "He doesn't want that to be what people think about him."

Team physician Pat Smith said in a statement released by the university Sunday no decision had been made about when the coach would return to work, the Star Tribune reported.

Defensive coordinator Tracy Claeys, who has worked for Kill for 17 years, noted Saturday his boss has never missed a game.
