MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Minnesota Golden Gophers football Coach Jerry Kill was taken off the field on a stretcher Saturday after collapsing along the sidelines in Minneapolis.
Kill, coaching only his second game for Minnesota after coming to the program from Northern Illinois, appeared to suffer a seizure as the Gophers were driving for a possible game-tying touchdown against New Mexico State with 20 seconds to go in the fourth quarter.
The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported the coach rolled around on the ground with his legs kicking and his head thrashing back and forth as medical personnel came to his aid.
The Gophers players knelt in prayer as paramedics worked on him with his wife Rebecca by his side, the newspaper said.
School officials said Kill was stable condition after being hospitalized.
Kill, who has a history of health problems, also suffered a seizure on the sidelines in 2005 when he was the head coach at Southern Illinois University, Fox Sports North reported.
After a delay of about 15 minutes, the Gophers completed a 28-21 loss to the Aggies.
