Sept. 10, 2011 at 8:56 AM

TEMPE, Ariz., Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Jamal Miles caught an 11-yard pass from Brock Osweiler in overtime Friday, giving the No. 23 Arizona State Sun Devils a 37-30 victory over 19th-ranked Missouri.

Missouri (1-1) scored a pair of touchdowns, with James Franklin connecting on two scoring passes, to wipe out a 30-16 deficit in the fourth quarter. The Tigers blew a chance to win in regulation when a 48-yard field goal attempt with 1 1/2 minutes to play missed.

The Sun Devils (2-0) got the ball first in overtime and, on their fifth play, Miles hauled in a pass in the flat and reached the end zone. The Arizona State defense held Missouri for four plays to secure the win.

Osweiler completed 24-of-32 passes for 353 yards. He opened the scoring with a first-quarter scoring pass to Miles.

Miles also threw for a touchdown, hitting Aaron Pflugrad, who earlier scored in a 60-yard play from Osweiler, for a 35-yard play that made the score 23-16 late in the third period. Osweiler ran in from 12 yards out 37 seconds into the fourth period for a 14-point Arizona State lead.

But Franklin, who was 26-of-42 passing for 319 yards, hit L'Damian Washington with a 25-yard scoring strike 2 1/2 minutes later and tied the score with a 3-yard pass to Michael Egnew.

Franklin rushed for another touchdown and Grant Ressel added three field goals for Missouri.
