GAINESVILLE, Fla., Sept. 4 (UPI) -- Chris Rainey racked up 146 yards from scrimmage and scored three times Saturday in No. 23 Florida's 41-3 season-opening win over Florida Atlantic.

Jeff Demps ran for 105 yards and two scores, and John Brantley threw for 229 yards and a TD for Florida (1-0), which won in its first game under Coach Will Muschamp, who replaced Urban Meyer.

The Florida Atlanta (0-1) could manage only 137 yards with Graham Wilbert accounting for 107 of them on 14-of-26 efficiency.

The setback marked the final season opener for FAU Coach Howard Schnellenberger, who has announced this will be his last season after 27 years at the helm.
