COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Joe Bauserman connected with Jake Stoneburn for touchdowns three times Saturday in No. 16 Ohio State's 42-0 rout of visiting Akron.

Luke Fickell had the Buckeyes firing on all cylinders in his debut as head coach following Jim Tressel's abrupt departure in May.

Bauserman was 12-of-16 for 163 yards and three touchdowns before giving way to freshman Braxton Miller, who went 8-of-12 for 130 yards and one TD. Carlos Hyde led the ground game with 19 carries for 94 yards.

The Buckeyes churned out 517 total yards and 27 first downs in the game to Akron's 90 yards and five first downs. The Zips were 2-of-13 on third-down conversions.

Akron's Clayton Moore was 6-of-16 for 54 yards passing and was the Zips' leading rusher with 32 yards.
