March 27 (UPI) -- As if the University of Kentucky basketball fan base didn't hate Christian Laettner enough.

On Monday, the former Duke star dissed the Wildcats following its 75-73 loss Sunday to North Carolina. The Wildcats tied the game at 73-73 in the final seconds, before Luke Maye's deciding jumper with 0.3 seconds remaining.

Maye wears No. 32, the same number worn by Laettner when he iconically led the Blue Devils to an Elite 8 victory against the Wildcats 25 years ago. In that contest, Duke trailed 103-102 with 02:1 seconds remaining in overtime, before Laettner caught a full court pass at the free throw line. He hit a turnaround jumper to sink the Wildcats' hopes at a Final Four.

"Luke my son...May the force of the #32 be with you. #uncdownsthecats #theshotlives," Laettner tweeted Monday.

Maye, a sophomore, managed to show up for his 8 a.m. Business 101 class Monday in Chapel Hill. He received a standing ovation from his classmates.
