A felony warrant was issued by authorities in Omaha, Neb., charging Creighton senior point guard Maurice Watson Jr. with first-degree sexual assault.

According to a police report, a 19-year-old female said Watson had non-consensual sexual intercourse with her at a residence at about 3 a.m. on Feb. 4. The Creighton student contacted police later that morning.

The university is cooperating with police and issued the following statement: "There is no tolerance for sexual misconduct at Creighton, and all allegations will be investigated fairly and with dignity. As the process continues, we are extending care and concern for all involved."

The university also announced Wednesday that Watson is not allowed to participate in any "athletic-related activities for alleged actions that are contrary to university policies and core values."

Watson hasn't played since Jan. 16, when he tore the ACL in his left knee, ending his season. He went to Philadelphia to have surgery Feb. 6 and wasn't part of any team activities since.

The No. 23 Bluejays (22-5) fell to 4-5 without Watson after an 68-66 loss to Providence on Wednesday. Watson, an All-Big East first-team preseason selection, averaged 12.9 points, and his average of 8.5 assists led the nation at the time of his injury.
