Kansas sophomore forward Carlton Bragg Jr. was suspended indefinitely on Friday after he was arrested and charged with domestic battery.

Bragg, 20, allegedly struck his girlfriend and pushed her down a flight of stairs. He was arrested shortly after midnight, according to published reports.

Bragg pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charge. He is still being held in jail and his next court date is slated for Dec. 27.

Coach Bill Self said Bragg won't play for the third-ranked Jayhawks (8-1) until after the school conducts a fact-finding mission.

"Carlton and I have spoken," Self said in a statement. "He certainly understands the circumstances surrounding this issue. We are taking this charge very seriously. We're going to hold him out from competition as we continue to gather facts."

Bragg is averaging 7.8 points and 5.3 rebounds in 16 minutes per game. The former ballyhooed recruit started five of the first nine games.

Kansas hosts Nebraska on Saturday.
