LEXINGTON, Ky., July 23 (UPI) -- When he's not doing it at sold out concerts, Drake is singing the praises of the University of Kentucky's basketball team. But his fandom and association with the team recently resulted in somewhat of a warning from the school.

Kentucky issued Drake a cease-and-desist letter, following his appearance at the school's pre-season 'Big Blue Madness' basketball bash, according to Sporting News.

The letter came after Drake took pictures with recruits.

The school's compliance office reported the communication between the singer and three potential student athletes (PSA) on April 27, according to Sporting News.

According to a letter obtained by Sporting News: "Drake and his management team arrived at Rupp Arena prior to the event's tipoff and were advised that "NCAA rules prohibited the institution from arranging contact between him and the PSAs as this would be an NCAA violation."

"After informing the three recruits in town for Big Blue Madness that they were not allowed to have contact with Drake, athletic directors went as far as trying to coordinate who would be in the hallways to ensure that they did not cross paths," the report states.

Head coach John Calipari tweeted Wednesday that "there are no issues with @Drake and UK, and Drake is and always will be a part of our Big Blue family."

The photo are level III violations, which don't include suspensions. Kentucky's letter to Drake directed him to "refrain from conversations with prospects or taking photos with prospects when that conversation or photo occurs outside the parameters established by the NCAA."

One of the Wildcats' commits, Charles Matthews, was shown in a picture with Drake, posted on Twitter.
