WICHITA, Kan., Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Tekele Cotton netted 21 points Saturday and No. 3 Wichita State remained the nation's only unbeaten Division I team with a 83-54 win over Drake.

Darius Carter and Fred VanVleet each put in 15 points for the Shockers (29-0, 16-0 MVC), who moved to within one game of the Missouri Valley Conference record for most consecutive wins to start a season.

The current mark of 17-0 was set by Southern Illinois in 2003-04.

With two losses by No. 1 Syracuse this week, Wichita State is poised to grab the No. 2 slot behind Florida.

The Bulldogs (14-14, 5-11) got 14 points from Daddy Ugbede. Jordan Daniels added 13.
