CORAL GABLES, Fla., Jan. 25 (UPI) -- C.J. Fair provided 15 points with seven rebounds Saturday and No. 2 Syracuse used a tough defense down the stretch to hold off Miami-Florida 64-52.

Tyler Ennis scored seven of his 14 points during an 18-5 second-half run that allowed the Orange (19-0, 6-0 ACC) to avoid their first loss of the season.

Davon Reed's three-point play with 8 minutes left put the Hurricanes ahead by one, but Syracuse held Miami without a field goal over the next 7 minutes to secure the victory.

Jerami Grant also had 14 points as the Orange matched the second-best start in school history.

Reed finished with 16 points in a reserve role for the Hurricanes (10-9, 2-5).

Rion Brown supplied 13 points and eight rebounds.
