MEMPHIS, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- DeAndre Daniels hit a key 3-pointer with 2:14 to go Thursday, propelling Connecticut to an 83-73 victory over No. 17 Memphis.
The long-range shot from Daniels gave the Huskies an eight-point lead and they held on for a crucial road victory.

Connecticut lost its first two American Athletic Conference road games against Houston and SMU, leaving the Huskies in a hole in a new league laden with good teams.
Daniels scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Shabazz Napier handed out 10 assists to go with his 17 points. Connecticut (14-3, 2-2 AAC) hit 58 percent from the field.
Michael Dixon delivered 16 points for Memphis (12-4, 3-2 AAC), but fouled out after playing 28 minutes.
