COL BKB: Massachusetts 69, Providence 67 (OT)

AMHERST, Mass., Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Derrick Gordon's second effort with 1.1 seconds left in overtime proved to be the difference Saturday in 22nd-ranked Massachusetts' 69-67 win over Providence.

Bryce Cotton drained a 3-pointer for Providence with 39 seconds remaining to forge a 67-67 tie.

The Minutemen (11-1) then ran off the clock until Trey Davis launched a try from the left side that bounced hard off the rim. But it came right to Gordon in the lane, who tossed it through for the decisive score.

Cady Lalanne came up with 14 points with 10 rebounds and Sampson Carter added a double-double of 12 and 12 for UMass, which bounced back from a 60-55 loss to Florida last week.

Davis finished with 12 points, Maxie Esho added 11 and leading scorer Chaz Williams provided 10 with 10 assists before fouling out late in the second half.

Cotton pumped in 24 points for the Friars (10-3). Tyler Harris contributed an all-around game of 16 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals.
