SAN DIEGO, Dec. 19 (UPI) --
Xavier Thames led the way with 16 points Wednesday and No. 23 San Diego State held Southern Utah to 11 first-half points in mauling the Thunderbirds 76-39.
The Aztecs (8-1) built a 30-point lead at the break and limited Southern Utah to 12 field goals for the entire contest.
Thames made 6-of-9 from the field and was backed up by 14 points from Aqeel Quinn with 14 and Josh Davis with 13.
Southern Utah (1-7) was led by Trey Kennedy with 10 points. He was the only player to reach double digit scoring for the Thunderbirds.
