TUCSON, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- Aaron Gordon scored 21 points Thursday and No. 1 Arizona relied on its defense to stay unbeaten in a 69-43 victory over Southern.

The Wildcats, in their second week as the nation's top-ranked team, improved to 12-0. Arizona shot just 43 percent, but held the Jaguars to 18 field goals.

Arizona committed only 14 fouls and Southern hit a mere 4-of-14 free throws.

Gordon made 8-of-11 from the field while Nick Johnson backed him up with 17 points. Brandon Ashley contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds. Arizona has only one non-conference opponent remaining before beginning Pac-12 play on Jan. 2 against Washington State.
