Dec. 14, 2013 at 4:42 PM   |   Comments

WICHITA, Kan., Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Tekele Cotton exploded for 19 second-half points Saturday and No. 8 Wichita State remained unbeaten with a 70-61 victory over Tennessee.

Cotton's late production complemented five rebounds, fours assists, two steals and a blocked shot from the junior, who boosted the Shockers to the first 10-0 start in school history.

Cleanthony Early helped out with 13 points and Darius Carter added 11 points and 14 rebounds as Wichita State avenged a loss to the Volunteers last year in Knoxville.

Tennessee (6-3) could manage just 38.5 percent shooting.

Jordan McRae scored 26 points for the Vols.
