FULLERTON, Calif., Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Xavier Thomas scored a career-best 26 points Friday and San Diego State pulled off a mild surprise by downing No. 18 Creighton 86-80.

San Diego State (4-1) moved into the finals of the Wooden Legacy and will meet Marquette in the championship game Sunday.

The Aztecs led by as many as 19 points in the second half and held off a Creighton charge fueled by Doug McDermott.

Winston Shepard added 16 points and 10 rebounds for San Diego State.

Creighton lost for the first time in six games despite 30 points from McDermott. The Bluejays will take on George Washington in the third-place game.
