COL BKB: Kansas 87, Wake Forest 78

NASSAU, Bahamas, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Freshman Andrew Wiggins helped power No. 2 Kansas to a 14-point halftime lead Thursday and the Jayhawks held on to defeat Wake Forest 87-78.

Kansas advanced to the second round of the Battle 4 Atlantis, where the Jayhawks will take on Villanova on Friday.

Wiggins scored 17 points and Frank Mason contributed 13 off the bench as Kansas won its fifth straight game to open the season.

The Jayhawks shot 48 percent from the field, but made just 3-of-15 tries from 3-point range.

Wake Forest (5-1) was led by Codi Miller-McIntyre with 26 points.
