COL BKB: Syracuse 75, Minnesota 67

LAHAINA, Hawaii, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- C.J. Fair overcame a gash to his face to score 16 and grab 10 rebounds Monday, pacing seventh-ranked Syracuse over Minnesota 75-67 at the Maui Invitational.

Fair missed several minutes of action in the first half after Minnesota's Austin Hollins opened a cut under his right eye while driving to the basket for dunk, but he shook off the injury to ignite the Orange (5-0) during a second-half run.

Trevor Cooney drained five 3-pointers en route to 15 points while Tyler Ennis and Jerami Grant added 12 each for Syracuse, which pulled away with a 13-2 spurt starting the second half.

Malik Smith provided 16 points, four rebounds and three assists for the Golden Gophers (5-1), who suffered their first loss.

Andre Hollins put in 14 points.
