COL BKB: North Carolina 84, Oakland 61

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Nov. 9 (UPI) -- James Michael McAdoo led North Carolina to a giant first half Friday and the No. 11 Tar Heels coasted to an 84-61 victory over Oakland.

North Carolina built a 58-21 lead at intermission in its season opener and wound up shooting 60 percent for the game.

McAdoo scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Marcus Paige hit four 3-pointers while scoring 14 points for the Tar Heels and J.P. Tokoto had 13 points and four steals.

North Carolina won its home opener for the ninth straight year.

Oakland was led by Travis Bader with 18 points.
