Hodskins will be a preferred walk-on for the Gators, ESPN reported.
"It's always been my dream, growing up," he said Saturday. "The hard work has paid off. I'm ecstatic to be a Florida Gator."
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Lexington, Ky., native has plans to be more than a feel-good story for Florida, ESPN noted.
"If I work hard, Coach [Billy] Donovan told me I'll have a chance to play," Hodskins said.
Florida, 29-8 last year, lost to Michigan in the Elite Eight at the NCAA finals.
