LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 26 (UPI) -- University of Louisville basketball Coach Rick Pitino made good on a promise to his players by getting a tattoo when they won the national title.

Pitino, who made the promise to his players following a Feb. 9 loss to Notre Dame, went to Tattoo Salvation in Louisville Friday and received a tattoo from Adam Potts, who had volunteered his services after hearing of Pitino's promise, ESPN reported Friday.

The tattoo on the coach's shoulder bears the Louisville "L," "2013," "NCAA Champions" and the team's final record of 35-5.

The team defeated Michigan 82-76 April 8 to win the national title.

"Our biggest motivation," senior guard Peyton Siva said after the victory, "was to get coach a tattoo."

Potts said the ink was on the house.

"I was running a free special for any Hall of Fame coaches who won an NCAA championship in the last 30 days," he said.
