MIAMI, April 26 (UPI) -- Baseball Hall of Famer and ESPN analyst Barry Larkin said his son, University of Miami basketball player Shane Larkin, will declare for the NBA draft.
Larkin said Friday his son, a sophomore guard, will announce Sunday he will declare for the NBA draft, and analysts have projected he is likely to be a first-round pick, ESPN reported.
Underclassmen have until the end of the day Sunday to declare for the draft under new NCAA rules, which prohibit a player from returning to school after declaring for the draft.
Shane Larkin averaged 14.5 points, 4.6 assists and 2.3 turnovers with the Hurricanes and was a front-runner for ACC player of the year.
