COL BKB: Virginia 67, Norfolk State 56

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., March 20 (UPI) -- Akil Mitchell and Justin Anderson both scored 15 points Tuesday to lead top-seeded Virginia to a 67-56 win over visiting Norfolk State in their NIT opener.

Mitchell also grabbed 11 rebounds and Joe Harris tallied 12 points to advance the Cavaliers (22-11) to a second-round meeting with St. John's.

Rob Johnson registered a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds for eight-seeded Norfolk State (21-12). The Spartans were undone by dismal shooting, scoring just 16 points in the first half and shooting 26.9 percent for the game compared to 47.6 percent for Virginia.
