NORFOLK, Va., March 16 (UPI) -- Adrian Powell and Lamont Middleton combined for 27 points Saturday and North Carolina A&T earned an NCAA Tournament berth with a 57-54 win over Morgan State.
Powell finished with 14 points, Middleton added 13 and Austin Witter contributed 11 with 10 rebounds for the seventh-seeded Aggies (19-16), who won their 16th overall Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship but first since 1995.
They had bested Florida A&M, second-seeded North Carolina Central and Delaware State en route to the MEAC crown.
Morgan State (17-15) was led by Dewayne Jackson with 20 points and seven rebounds.
