COL BKB: Georgetown 61, Syracuse 39

WASHINGTON, March 9 (UPI) -- Markel Sparks scored 19 points Saturday to lead fifth-ranked Georgetown to a 61-39 rout of Syracuse and a share of the Big East regular-season championship.

D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera added 15 points and Otto Porters scored 10 in the runaway, which slotted the Hoyas (24-5, 14-4 Big East) into the top seed in the conference tournament.

Michael Carter-Williams led Syracuse (23-8, 11-7) with 17 points. C.J. Fair added nine in the loss, the fifth in four games for the Orange.

Georgetown jumped out to a 25-18 lead and ended up shooting 42 percent from the field to 32.6 percent for Syracuse.

The Orange was 1-for-11 from 3-point range and committed 14 turnovers to Georgetown's 10.

No. 17 Marquette beat St. John's 69-67 Saturday to win a share of the Big East Conference title with Georgetown.
