MANHATTAN, Kan., Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Thomas Gipson sparked Kansas State to a quick start Wednesday and the No. 21 Wildcats crushed Texas 83-57.

Kansas State had lost two in a row, but had no trouble with a faltering Texas team that has lost six out of seven.

Gipson scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds while staking the Wildcats to a 38-19 halftime lead. Omari Lawrence contributed 12 points and Angel Rodriguez had 11 for the Wildcats (16-4, 5-2 Big 12 Conference).

The Longhorns (9-11, 1-6) turned the ball over 17 times to just six for Kansas State. Sheldon McClellan led Texas with 15 points.
