COL BKB: Louisville 73, Connecticut 58

HARTFORD, Conn., Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Russ Smith poured in 23 points on 10-of-20 shooting Monday and top-ranked Louisville used a big second half to rally past Connecticut 73-58.

Chane Behanan added 16 points, nine rebounds and five assists for the Cardinals (16-1, 4-0 Big East), who trailed by six points at halftime but then turned it on, outscoring UConn 45-24 down the stretch.

Louisville, which took over No. 1 spot Monday after losses last week by previously unbeaten Duke, Michigan and Wyoming, also got 11 points from Peyton Siva in the victory.

Omar Calhoun netted 20 points for the Huskies (12-4, 2-2), who went 8-of-22 from 3-point range while losing for the second time in four games.
