COL BKB: Minnesota 69, Northwestern 51

MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Austin Hollins scored 19 points, including five 3-pointers, and 13th-ranked Minnesota overcame a slow start to defeat Northwestern 69-51

Hollins connected on all five of his treys during a 4-minute span early in the second half to help Minnesota pull away after the Gophers could manage only a 17-14 halftime lead.

Rodney Williams added nine points to reach 1,000 for his collegiate career and Trevor Mbakwe hauled down 11 rebounds for Minnesota (14-1, 2-0 Big Ten), which recorded its 10th straight win. The Gophers' only loss was Nov. 22 to No. 1 Duke.

Reggie Hearn (11 points), Dave Sobolewski and Tre Demps (10 each) reached double figures for the Wildcats (9-6, 0-2), who were held to 38.5 percent shooting.
