COL BKB: Creighton 87, Evansville 70

OMAHA, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Doug McDermott provided a double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds Saturday, helping stake 12th-ranked Creighton to an 87-70 victory over Evansville.

Gregory Echenique scored 13 points and grabbed 14 boards as the Bluejays (12-1, 1-0 MVC) began conference play with a sixth straight win.

Jahenns Manigat (13 points) and Avery Dingman (11) also made offensive contributions for Creighton.

Troy Taylor notched a triple-double of 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, but it wasn't enough for the Purple Aces (7-6, 0-1).

Colt Ryan led Evansville with 25 points.
