PORTLAND, Ore., March 16 (UPI) -- Jordan Hulls led the way with 22 points Thursday, hitting four 3-pointers and carrying Indiana to a 79-66 win over New Mexico State in the NCAA Tournament.

The Hoosiers won an NCAA tourney contest for the first time in five years and set up a third-round meeting Saturday with upstart Virginia Commonwealth.

Indiana shot 59 percent from the floor in dominating the Aggies, who have dropped their opening game in the tournament five straight times.

Hulls made 8-of-12 shots from the field while Christian Watford, Will Sheehey and Cody Zeller were all scoring 14 points for the Hoosiers.

Indiana (26-8) is seeded fourth in the South Region and kept the Big Ten record perfect during the first big day of the tournament. Wisconsin and Ohio State also gave the Big Ten victories Thursday with Michigan, Michigan State and Purdue all scheduled to play Friday.

New Mexico State (26-10) was paced by Wendell McKines with 15 points.
