COL BKB: Air Force 58, San Diego State 56

COLORADO SPRINGS, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Michael Lyons pumped in 27 points, connecting on six 3-pointers Saturday in Air Force's 58-56 upset victory over No. 15 San Diego State.

Lyons added four steals and Max Yon finished with 10 points for the Falcons (13-11, 3-7 MWC), who knocked off a ranked opponent for the first time since 1992 in only their third game under new head Coach Dave Pilipovich.

Mike Fitzgerald contributed seven points and seven rebounds for Air Force.

The Aztecs (20-6, 6-4) dropped their third straight despite 17 points and nine rebounds from Chase Tapley.

Tim Shelton provided 13 points and 11 rebounds while Xavier Thames chipped in with nine points and five assists for San Diego State.
