SYRACUSE, N.Y., Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Kris Joseph's long-range shot put Syracuse in front with 30 seconds left in overtime Wednesday and the No. 2 Orange fought off No. 12 Georgetown 64-61.

Joseph scored a career-best 29 points and helped Coach Jim Boeheim to a milestone victory. Boeheim posted his 880th coaching victory, moving him to third place all time in Division 1 ahead of Dean Smith.

Boeheim trails Mike Krzyzewski and Bobby Knight on the career list.

Georgetown's Greg Whittington made 1-of-2 foul shots with exactly a minute left in regulation to tie it at 55-55 and neither side could score the rest of the way.

Otto Porter's jumper gave the Hoyas a two-point lead with 2:22 remaining in the extra period, but they could not score again.

Syracuse tied it on two foul shots from Dion Waiters with 1:20 left and Joseph's 3-pointer accounted for the final score. Waiters missed two free throws with 3 seconds remaining, but Georgetown could not get off a shot after claiming the rebound.

Syracuse (24-1, 11-1 Big East Conference) has won four in a row. Fab Melo added 11 points and seven rebounds for the Orange.

Porter delivered 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Hoyas (18-5, 8-4).
