CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Mike Scott paced Virginia with 18 points Thursday and the No. 21 Cavaliers turned up the defensive heat late in the game to defeat Boston College 66-49.

The game was deadlocked midway through the second half but Virginia outscored the Eagles the rest of the way 22-5.

Scott made 7-of-11 from the field while Virginia was shooting 50 percent as a team and hitting all eight of its free throw tries.

The Cavaliers have lost just twice in their last 16 games, one of those setbacks coming in their previous outing against Virginia Tech.

Jontel Evans and Akil Mitchell both had 10 points for Virginia (16-3, 3-2 Atlantic Coast Conference).

Ryan Anderson, with 12 points, was the only player in double figures for the Eagles (7-13, 2-4).
