MURRAY, Ky., Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Donte Poole's 21 points helped No. 14 Murray State pull away in the second half Thursday and the Racers fought off Jacksonville State 66-55.

Murray State has won its first 17 games, the best start to a season in school history. The Racers, Syracuse and Baylor are the only unbeaten teams remaining in college basketball.

The game was tied 3 minutes deep in the second half, but Murray State put together an 11-1 run to open a lead. Poole made 12-of-14 attempts from the foul line while Ed Daniel added 11 points and nine rebounds.

Murray State's last five victories have come in Ohio Valley Conference play. Brian Williams led Jacksonville State (6-13, 1-5 OVC) with 18 points.

The teams have met 16 times and Murray State has won them all.
