
AUBURN, Ala., Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Marquis Teague put Kentucky in front for good with 8:03 to play Wednesday and the No. 2 Wildcats pulled away late for a 68-53 win over Auburn.
The Tigers took a two-point lead with 10:52 remaining on a pair of free throws by Rob Chubb, but Kentucky outscored Auburn 23-6 the rest of the way.
Kentucky (16-1, 2-0 Southeastern Conference) won its eighth straight game and defeated Auburn for the 13th consecutive time.
Anthony Davis and Doron Lamb both had 14 points for the Wildcats. Teague scored 12, as did Terrence Jones.
Kentucky shot only 40 percent from the field, but forced 15 turnovers while committing just eight.
Chubb had 14 points and eight rebounds to pace Auburn (10-6, 0-2). The Tigers had won their previous 10 home games.
