NEW YORK, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- Russ Smith scored 17 points and Kyle Kuric added 15 for No. 10 Louisville Tuesday in the Cardinals' 73-58 spanking of St. John's.

The Cardinals (13-2, 1-1 Big East) got 12 points from Gorgui Dieng as they broke a two-game losing streak -- their longest in nearly two years. Louisville fell to Georgetown and Kentucky last week.

The Cardinals held St. John's to under 15 percent shooting in the first half.

The Red Storm (7-7, 1-2) got 24 points from D'Angelo Harrison and 12 from Moe Harkless.
