COL BKB: Virginia 57, Louisiana State 52

BATON ROUGE, La., Jan. 2 (UPI) -- Sammy Zeglinski netted 17 points Monday, enabling No. 23 Virginia to extend its best start in decades with a 57-52 win over Louisiana State.

Zeglinski drained four 3-pointers, Joe Harris added 14 points and Mike Scott provided 12 points and nine rebounds for the Cavaliers (13-1).

Virginia's hot start is its best since 1982-83, which began the season 18-1.

LSU (10-4) had a seven-game winning streak snapped despite getting 21 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots from Justin Hamilton.
